On the circulation luminosity in uniformly rotating stars
نویسنده
چکیده
The equations governing meridional circulation in uniformly rotating stars are discussed, allowing for turbulence and for baroclinic effects. Relations for barotropic stars with steady motions are generalized to baroclinic stars with turbulence. The circulation luminosity (i.e., the luminosity carried by circulation through a level surface) is shown to be zero in barotropic layers and positive in the bulk of a radiative envelope. The resulting effect is important in contact binaries.

LINEAR PULSATION CHARACTERISTICS OF MIRA VARIABLE STARS
The linear adiabatic pulsation-periods of Mira variable stars have been derived. Approximately 2701[1]models were calculated for M = 0.7 MΘ to 2 MΘ stars with radii from 180 RΘ to 340 RΘ and luminosities from 2800 LΘ to 10,000 LΘ. The chemical composition of all models is (X,Z) = (0.7,0.02). From the result of this study, linear relations on Luminosity-Period-Mass relationship and luminosity-pe...
متن کاملLuminosity versus Rotation in a Supermassive Star
We determine the effect of rotation on the luminosity of supermassive stars. We apply the Roche model to calculate analytically the emitted radiation from a uniformly rotating, radiation-dominated supermassive configuration. We find that the luminosity at maximum rotation, when mass at the equator orbits at the Kepler period, is reduced by ∼ 36% below the usual Eddington luminosity from the cor...
متن کاملRapidly rotating stars with either H burning or He burning core
We have succeeded in constructing structures of realistic models for rapidly rotating inhomogeneous stars in the nuclear burning stages. The nuclear reaction networks both for CNO cycle and for helium burning have been successfully included in the 2D numerical code. Concerning the equation of state and the opacity, we have used the same ones as used in calculations of spherical stellar structur...

We report deep 3.6 cm radio observations of a small sample of the most rapidly{ rotating G{K dwarf stars in the Pleiades open cluster. Of the 4 ultra{fast rotators (UFRs) observed, 3 were detected. The G8 dwarf HII 1136, the fastest rotating G dwarf known in the Pleiades cluster, displayed a are that rose to a peak ux density of 1 mJy (peak radio luminosity of 210 16 erg Hz ?1 s ?1) in less tha...
متن کاملHighly accurate calculation of rotating neutron stars
A new spectral code for constructing general–relativistic models of rapidly rotating stars with an unprecedented accuracy is presented. As a first application, we reexamine uniformly rotating homogeneous stars and compare our results with those obtained by several previous codes. Moreover, representative relativistic examples corresponding to highly flattened rotating bodies are given.
